ABOUT JUNGLE JOHN®
John LaMedica, otherwise known as “Jungle John,” is a household name in the tri-state
area. John’s career as an “edutainer” began over two decades ago. After
receiving a degree in Zookeeping from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida
(1982), he was a supervisor at the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington, Delaware for 7
years. In addition to his animal care and supervisory responsibilities at the
zoo, he also did animal shows with their “Traveling Zoo” program. He left the
zoo in 1988 to begin his own business, Jungle John Entertainment. Since 1988 he
has delighted audiences ages 1-100 with his fun and educational reptile shows.
Always with him is “Wally Gator,” a 5-1/2 foot American alligator, and “Julius
Squeezer,” a
12-foot albino Burmese python, in addition to over a dozen other reptile and
amphibian friends (and a few from the insect world as well!). His shows include
interesting facts and stories that are presented with his fun and entertaining
style. Jungle John performs over 1000 shows a year and has been seen at the
Grand Opera House, the Museums of Natural History in Delaware and
Philadelphia, the Governor’s mansion, and many other venues. He has been
a featured attraction at the “First Night” festivities in the tri-state area.
In addition, Jungle John is a two-time Guinness World Record Holder, and was
seen on the “Guinness World Records: Primetime” television show on FOX, the
Ricki Lake Show, and most recently on “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!” on TBS.
He performs for corporate events, trade shows, schools, day care facilities,
birthday parties, and everything in between.
John and his menagerie reside in Newark, Delaware,
along with his wife, Susan, and son, Nick.
